About
Hello, I’m Sam Farmer — an artist and creator living and working in the beautiful county of Pembrokeshire, West Wales.
After spending close to thirty wonderful years as a primary school teacher, I’ve returned to my first loves: art, nature, and the freedom to create. Life nudged me in this direction — a combination of ill health and growing children who are beginning to fly the nest but whom I love to visit whenever I can!
Living in the heart of Pembrokeshire, I find endless inspiration in the wild beauty of my surroundings. Rugged coastlines, ever-changing skies, and shared moments in nature spark my imagination and fill my paintings with a sense of vibrancy and connection to the outdoors. Through my work, I aim to capture the magic in the everyday and reflect the deep bond we all share with the natural world.
My art is joyful, colourful, and rooted in place and people. I love projects that allow me to blend painting, illustration, and craft into broader ideas that pique my curiosity. My current project is a children’s book about a puffin living on the island of Skomer, brought to life through my original paintings of Pembrokeshire.
Creating personal art for others is one of my greatest pleasures. There’s nothing I enjoy more than listening to people’s stories and being commissioned to create unique pieces that hold special meaning and capture the essence of their memories.
When I’m not painting, you’ll most likely find me walking my dog along one of Pembrokeshire’s beautiful beaches — or, even better, relaxing on a warm beach somewhere far-flung with a cocktail in hand! I love to travel with family and friends and have been lucky enough to explore many corners of the world. There’s still so much more I’d love to see — both above and below the waves, as scuba diving is another great passion of mine.
Thank you for visiting my online gallery and art space. I hope my work brings you a little of the joy and wonder I feel when creating it.
